BASTA Launches Countywide Eviction Defense Program
In response to resolutions passed by the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors, BASTA Universal initiated an ambitious countywide eviction defense pilot program on November 13, 2019. Without regard to zip code, immigration status, or other restrictive criteria, BASTA attorneys -- at every courthouse handling eviction cases -- began providing full-scope legal representation on the date of trial to tenants facing eviction. BASTA looks forward to further collaboration with the Board of Supervisors and the Right to Counsel Coalition in further implementing and expanding this revolutionary effort to prevent homelessness.
